Google Pixel Series: October 2021 Security Patch with Android 11

Google Pixel Series Security Update:

Google Pixel Series of Smartphone, have started getting the October 2021 Security Patch with Android 11 onboard, Instead of the Android 12 update, recently Google announced the launch date of Pixel 6 & Pixel 6 Pro on October 19th, 2021 at 10 pm Pacific Time.

As we anticipate the release of Android 12, the October 2021 security patch with Android 11 update is now rolling out for Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a(5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5a.

The Pixel 3 & Pixel 3 XL is almost the end of their, update cycle & may no longer receive OTA or Security Updates, unless Google revokes and changes their update policy. But it is expected to get an Android 12 update, as the last major OS update.

The dedicated bulletin for Google devices lists 20 security fixes but no functional updates.

With a separate regional build for Japanese carriers, the Pixel 5a is running a different version of Android 11 compared to every other Google phone.

How long does Google pixel’s Android take for the update:

Pixel phones receive Android version updates for at least three years from when the device first became available.

Google plans, to extend their update policy from Pixel 6 onwards!!

Pixel phones get security updates for at least 3 years from when the device first became available on the Google Store.

How to update your Pixel Smartphone?

To check for updates in your pixel phone,

• Open your phone’s Settings app
• Near the bottom, tap System > Advanced > System update.
• You’ll see your update status. Follow any steps on the screen.
• Check for an Update:
  • To check if a security update is available, tap Security update.
  • To check if a Google Play system update is available, tap Google Play system update.
