The word going around in town is that the Vivo V15 Android 11 update (Funtouch OS 11) rolled out in the form of grayscale testing available to a limited number of users. The Vivo V15 was globally launched in March 2019 with an Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. Vivo V15 received the major Android 10 update officially in August 2020. It has now bagged the stable Android 11 update which is under grayscale testing and available to a limited number of users.
The news of the Vivo V15 Android 11 update (Funtouch OS 11) in the form of grayscale testing broke out when a Vivo V15 user enquired about the major Android 11 update for his Vivo V15. He was replied to by the official Vivo Twitter handle of India. It read as "We have released the Android 11 for Vivo V15 handset under the grayscale test for some handset. If there will be no negative feedback then we will release the update frequency."
Expected release is end of June, 2021 or maybe extended to july,2021 if any bugs and issues exist.
Vivo has officially announced that they have released the Android 11 update for the Vivo V15 under the grayscale testing. As the update is still under testing mode, it is available to only a selected number of users. From their tweet, we can also deduce that the update will become available to more Vivo V15 users once it is confirmed that there are no bugs or issues with the latest Android 11 update for the device.
As the update is still under grayscale testing and available to a limited number of Vivo V15 users, we don't quite have our hands on the update log yet. But if it is anything related to the Vivo V15 Pro Android 11 update log, then it will have better animations, dynamic effects, optimized home screen effects, and more.
Its bigger brother the V15 Pro has already received an Android 11 update with Funtouch OS 10.5 instead of 11 and the update was around 3.3 GB for that device and we expect around the same update size for Vivo V15 as well.
The Vivo V15 comes with a 6.53-inch Color IPS LCD FullView Display screen with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on it. It consists of a 24 MP triple rear camera and a 32 MP pop-up front camera. It has a 2.1 GHz Octa-Core processor with a Mediatek Helio P70 chipset. The available RAM is 6 GB and the storage space available is 64 GB. The battery size of the Vivo V15 is 4000 mAh and it comes with an Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.
Vivo V15 was released with an Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box in March 2019 and received the Android 10 update in August 2020. As the Android 10 was officially launched in September 2019, it took Vivo 11 months to release the first major OS update with Android 10 for Vivo V15.
Android OS | Release date | Estimated Months |
Android 9 Pie [Out-of-the-box] | March, 2019 | Nil |
Android 10 [First OS Update] | August, 2020 | 11 months |
Android 11 [Last OS Update] | Expected June/July, 2021 | 8 months |
Now, the device has received its second & last major OS update with Android 11 under grayscale testing after the official release of Android 11 in September 2020. Therefore, it took Vivo around 8 months to release the second major OS update for Vivo V15.
As mentioned earlier, Vivo V15 was released with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. It received its first major update with Android 10 in August 2020. It has now received its second major update with the Android 11 under the grayscale testing.
Since it has received two major OS updates, the chances of a third major update are unlikely. It will continue to receive Security updates but it may also be concluded that it is not in line with the Android 12 update list and Android 11 should probably be the last major OS update on this device.

With the foreign mobile manufacturers or OEMs like Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Realme, etc. releasing the latest Android or Software updates as promised, a question or a set of questions into one needs to be raised, "Why Indian OEMs don't provide regular updates, and where are the Android 11 updates as promised?"
To validate our question, we have gathered a list of the Indian OEMs whose devices are eligible for Android 11 or Android 12 update and are still unable to deliver the latest Android update to their users. We have mentioned the Indian OEMs whose devices have been released with an Android 10 out-of-the-box.
As prioir to that Android version devices are expected to not recieve any update we assume.
Micromax showed promising results to the user by launching In Series of Smartphone last year and have promised 2 years of updates, we are yet to see how this goes.
A constant tweets are expected from users, waiting for android 11 update and the company has same response everday, instead of giving a specific timeframe and sticking to it. What Indian OEMs lack is commitment, they are not commited yet to serve very well right now for the demands and needs of a Indian User.
The Micromax IN 1 was released in March 2021. It came with an Android 10 out-of-the-box. Therefore, it makes it eligible for the Android 11 update. Micromax actually promised the Android 11 early access program for IN 1 in April 2021 by replying to a user on Twitter. They promised the early access program in a month from the announcement (In a twitter Reply).
It is June 2021 and Micromax still hasn't released anything regarding the Android 11 update for Micromax IN 1 and can only tell the users to wait further.
Often confused with Micromax IN 1, the Micromax IN Note 1 was released in November 2020. It came with an Android 10 out-of-the-box and it made it eligible for the Android 11 update.
Micromax officially announced the Android 11 early access program for IN Note 1 in April 2021 on its official website. It invited the users for early access but didn't release the update as promised.
There is still no update for Micromax IN Note 1 to Android 11 as of June 2021. One user asked about the update for IN Note 1 recently and got this response from Micromax on Twitter.
The Micromax IN 1B was released in November 2020 as well. Like other devices in the list, it also came with an Android 10 out-of-the-box. It made it automatically eligible for the Android 11 but it did not receive it as it should have.
The Micromax IN 1B received an OTA update along with a Security patch in February 2021 but it was based on Android 10 and not Android 11.
It is June 2021 and there is still no announcement on the Android 11 update for Micromax IN 1B. A user on Twitter asked about the Android 11 update for IN 1B and as expected, he was told to wait further for the announcement.
Lava, one of the premier Indian Oems along with Micromax, have been touting their new Z Series of devices with custmizations on ram & storage for few of its devices. But lets talk about software.
As of June, 2021 according to the tweets, mentioned by Lava business head, they will provide system software updates for 2 years and soon they will release android 11 update for its Z Series of devices, we are yet to see how they stick with their commitment.
The Lava Z1 was released in January 2021 along with other Lava phones. It is a budget phone with Android 10 out-of-the-box. As usual, it is eligible for the Android 11 update. But, Lava has not announced anything yet about the update of Lava Z1 to Android 11. There is absolutely nothing from the side of Lava regarding the major OS update for this device as of June 2021.
The Lava Z2 was released in January 2021 as well. It is June 2021 and there is still no official announcement or news regarding the Android 11 update for the Lava Z2.
A user on Twitter asked the official Lava account on that platform about the Android 11 update for the Lava Z2 multiple times since March 2021. But, that user wasn't responded to and is still in the dark about the Android 11 update for his Lava Z2. There is neither any response nor any news from the Lava company about the OS update of this device as well.
The most recently launched Lava phone in this list is the Lava Z2 Max which was released in May 2021. Though it is the most recently launched mobile and Android 11 officially out in September 2020, it was still released with an Android 10 out-of-the-box.
Now that the other OEMs are already working on the Android 12 program, the Lava Z2 Max has not even received the early access program for Android 11. It is June 2021 and there is officially no news regarding the update to Android 11 and the users can only wait for it.
Another Lava device that was released in January 2021, is the Lava Z4 which was officially launched in January 2021 with Android 10 out-of-the-box. Hence, it was automatically eligible for the Android 11 update.
There was an Android Security patch update released in May 2021, but it caused a problem for one user of Lava Z4. The user posted a screenshot of his problem on Twitter and asked Lava for a solution. As usual, he also wasn't responded to or attended to.
Another user of Lava Z4 expressed his disappointment in the Lava mobiles' response to their customers. While he received a response from Lava Mobiles after 2 days, he requested their official Twitter account to reply quicker to the user queries. Here is the thread.
Although, he actually got a response from the President and Business Head of the Lava Mobiles, Mr. Sunil Raina. Mr. Sunil Raina confirmed that the Lava Z4 will receive the system software updates for two years. But, he did not mention a date or timeline for the Android 11 update for the Lava Z4. So, the users will have to wait further.
The Lava Z6 was another Lava device that was released in January 2021. It was released with an Android 10 out-of-the-box too. And as they say, it made it automatically eligible for the Android 11 update.
One unofficial source on Twitter confirmed that the Lava Z6 is going to receive the Android 11 update very soon. Also, the Lava Z2 and Lava Z4 will receive the Android 11 update along with the Lava Z6.
Although, there is no official confirmation as to when will the Lava Z6 and other Lava devices mentioned in the Tweet will receive the Android 11 update. The news can be a sheer rumor as well as there is no proper source to back it up. Still, it is June 2021 and the users of Lava Z6 can only wait for the OS update for their devices.
The Lava device that rounds off this list is the Lava BeU which was officially launched in December 2020. It was released with an Android 10 Go Edition. It was hence, eligible for the Android 11 update as well.
It is June 2021 and there is still no official news regarding the Android 11 update or any early access program for the Lava BeU. There seems to be a conjectural pattern from Lava Mobiles of not giving any concrete news to their users and they follow it very well.
Now that we have backed our questions with authentic sources and cases, it is up to the Indian OEMs to deliver a response in the form of an official system or OS updates for their respective mobile phones on time. What the users actually want are timely updates, proper/immediate feedback, and better performance from their respective devices and their OEMs, Indian OEMs in this case.
We hope that the Indian OEMs like Micromax, Lava Mobiles, Karbonn, Intex, and many others give strong competition to the foreign OEMs in the market. The beginning of that journey is by providing the above-mentioned customer needs on time.
What should users expect from Indian OEMs is don't fall for whats going to be offered in future, buy a product based on what current set values and features it brings.
"Expected future updates equals waiting game for users"
Comment below on what you think about the Indian OEMs and what they need to do in order to compete with the foreign OEMs or just to improve in the market. OnePlus 9 & 9 Pro have finally received the feature of HDR video recording with the latest OxygenOS 11.2.7.7 update in the first week of June 2021. The HDR video recording feature was long overdue for the OnePlus 9 & 9 Pro devices. And now, it is finally on the receiving end of it.
OnePlus recently released the OxygenOS 11.2.6.6 update with several camera improvements but most notably, it did not include an HDR video recording feature. OnePlus took note of it and has added that feature in the latest OxygenOS 11.2.7.7 update for OnePlus 9, 9 Pro.
The news broke out when a staff member of OnePlus posted the OxygenOS 11.2.7.7 update details on the official OnePlus community. It was revealed that the latest update is being rolled out to the Indian users of the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro right now and the other regions will soon follow.
The official changelog for the OxygenOS 11.2.7.7 update is :
System
Camera
Below are the screenshots of the OnePlus 9 or 9 Pro phones' cameras before and after the latest OxygenOS 11.2.7.7 update. The new HDR feature in the video recording mode can be clearly observed in the pictures.
One user on Twitter posted a screenshot of the latest update for his OnePlus 9 Pro device. It highlighted the size of the latest OxygenOS 11.2.7.7 update to be 3119 MB or 3.04 GB.
"Updated yesterday it has more battery draining and there is brightness issue which takes time to increase brightness after we increase it. Please check on that".
"Got this update day before!!! Must say... the heating issue has come down! Finally the care app doesn't show error for battery when diagnosed...Thank you OnePlus ❤️❤️".
"Got the update and it looks good".
"One problem I see is while recording video the camera and the camera section are getting very heated. Please Fix."
"Updated yesterday. It's a very good update for the heating issue. It's getting less now. Please focus on battery backup....".
"Thank you for this new and quick update. Keep up the good work improving our beloved phones. 👍".
As mentioned earlier, the latest OxygenOS 11.2.7.7 update is being rolled out to the Indian users right now and it will soon be released in other regions as well. As the update is incremental, it is available to a limited number of users right now with more users receiving it in the coming days. If the update is available on your OnePlus 9 or 9 Pro device, make sure you are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading it and back up your important data as well.
The possible answer is, yes you can update this update as we don't see any major problems as before, Oneplus owners have been quite disappointed this year with buggy software & issues with updates on Oneplus devices, this update definitely fixes some core issues, but as few user reported it also introduced new bugs along with it.
Good thing, it has reduced some of the heating issues users faced, still some of the heating issue exist when using camera or playing games, but before idle usage also it was heating, now this is fixed.
Main issue is "battery drain" users have reported, that the phone is eating up lot more battery then before and needs to be fixed as soon as possible
Oneplus 9 Series Bootloop Issues after update OxygenOS 11.2.6.6
OnePlus 9 Series will start receiving Android 12 Beta after a short pause

OnePlus 9 series received the OxygenOS 11.2.6.6 update with several camera improvements in the last week of May 2021. The update was 160 MB in size and was rolled out to the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro devices. The latest news coming to light is that the OnePlus 9 series is in all sorts of issues after the OxygenOS 11.2.6.6 update. One major issue that was reported by the users is the 'Boot-looping' of the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro.
Booting is termed as the starting of any device, specifically computers. A boot loop occurs when a specific change (system update) or damage has been done to a device.
You can state that a boot loop has happened when you turn on a device and it fails to boot while entering a loop in which it performs the starting sequence continuously and repeatedly.
The news of the OnePlus 9 series causing boot loops came to light when some users on Twitter posted screenshots of their OnePlus devices boot-looping.
A user on Twitter, named '@howtomen', posted the screenshot of his brother's OnePlus 9 having a boot loop after he updates his OnePlus device with OxygenOS 11.2.6.6. It displayed an error message saying "init_user0_failed".
check the thread - click here
He was replied to by a user with a suggestion to fix the issue of boot-looping of OnePlus 9 series devices. It was unclear whereas to the issue/problem was actually solved by that method.
Another OnePlus user posted a screenshot of his OnePlus 9 Pro device causing a boot loop after downloading and installing the latest OxygenOS 11.2.6.6 update. His OnePlus 9 Pro refused to boot and promptly went into a boot loop.
Surprisingly, he managed to fix the issue of boot-looping in his OnePlus 9 Pro himself by wiping the cache from the recovery.
This method worked to resolve the boot loop issues faced by the OnePlus 9 Pro at least for that user. It is still uncertain if that method will work for everyone with a One Plus 9 or OnePlus9 Pro device.
The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro received the OxygenOS 11.2.5.5 during the first week of May 2021 along with the May Android Security patch. Then it received this update of OxygenOS 11.2.6.6 in the last week of May 2021 which led to these issues.
There are still some devices on OxygenOS 11.2.5.5 as they have not received the latest OxygenOS 11.2.6.6 update. What we advise, is that you avoid downloading the latest update as there has been no official fix or statement from OnePlus about this issue. Though the issues might not happen in every OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro device, it is still better to be safe than sorry.
OnePlus 9 Series will start receiving Android 12 Beta after a short pause

The Nokia 1 Plus first received the Android 10 update in April 2020 and it has now received the Android 11 update officially.

Nokia usually rolls out the update in Waves to provide a smooth rollout. It did the same now as the Android 11 Go Edition update has been rolled out in waves.
Wave 1 includes all regions, except those listed below:
The above-listed regions/countries have NOT received the Android 11 Go Edition update due to some unknown reasons or due to pending approval if that is required.
But 30% of all the approved markets received the OS update on June 3rd, 50% received the update by June 4th. And by June 5th, 100% of the approved markets received the Android 11 Go Edition update.

The screenshot highlighted that the Vivo Y12s has received the Funtouch OS 11 Global update based on Android 11. The tweet was responded to by none other than the official Twitter handle of Vivo Smartphones based in Kenya. Hence, it was confirmed that the update is official.
As the Vivo Y12s was released with Android 10 out-of-the-box in January 2021, this is its first major OS update. So, that puts it in the running for the Android 12 update as well. The Android 11 update for Vivo Y12s is right now available to only selected users since it has not actually been announced by Vivo globally. From the source, we can deduce that it first became available in Kenya since there have been no other reports of its Android 11 update from anywhere else.
At present, there is no official update log available anywhere. So, there are not many details about the significant changes that have been made in the Android 11 update of Vivo Y12s. Also, it is not clear as to which Security patch has been released along with the Funtouch OS 11 update based on Android 11 for this device.
The Vivo Y12s comes with a 6.51-inch Color IPS LCD screen with a Water Drop notch. It consists of a 13 MP + 2 MP dual rear camera and an 8 MP wide-angle front camera. It has a 2.3 GHz Octa-Core processor with a Mediatek Helio P35 chipset. The available RAM is 3 GB and the storage space available is 32 GB. It comes with an Android 10 out-of-the-box.
Despite the official release of Android 11 in September 2020, Vivo Y12s was still released with an Android 10 out-of-the-box in January 2021 globally. Therefore, Vivo was quick to release a Funtouch OS 11 update for Vivo Y12s based on Android 11. Hence, it took Vivo around five months to release the first major update of Vivo Y12s since its release globally and eight months since the official release of Android 11.
As mentioned earlier, the Vivo Y12s was released with an Android 10 out-of-box. It has now received its first major update with Funtouch OS 11 based on Android 11 this month. Since it is its first major OS update only, it is still in line with the Android 12 update.
Therefore, it can be concluded that Vivo Y12s will most probably receive another major OS update in the form of Android 12 and it can be its last major update since Vivo promises two years of major OS updates for mid-range phones as per its Android update policy.

OnePlus has started rolling out Android 12 Beta or the Developer Preview Program again for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro devices after the initial rollout was halted due to the issues faced by the users. The previous release caused bricking of the OnePlus phones reportedly. But now, OnePlus have made a comeback after a break with the latest release of the Android 12 Beta release for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro mobile phones.
The latest update for the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro was announced on the official OnePlus Forum and that is when OnePlus announced the Android 12 Beta release for the OnePlus series. OnePlus acknowledged the previous version's bugs in the official statement, "After careful testing and verification, we're releasing a new Developer Preview Program for the OnePlus. This new version is a hotfix build that fixes the issue that caused the original version to get stuck during Factory Reset Protection (FRP) check".
So, what we can gather from the statement is that the bricking issues on the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro from the previous Android 12 Beta updates are fixed, and OnePlus has carefully tested and verified the latest Android 12 Beta update. But still, there are certain risks and known issues with the latest Android 12 Developer Preview Program for the OnePlus devices.
So, If you wanted to try because of new material UI, here's the sad part as it's not final build either for material UI or the OxygenOS it's bare bone vanilla build of android with lots of bugs & issues.
If you want to see without installing then we recommend video from HowtoMen For in-depth coverage for the same
Here's the list of issues users reported:
OnePlus was quick to warn the users about these potential risks and known issues with the latest Android 12 Developer Preview Program. They also implied that this latest update is for the advanced users or developers and not for everyone. The statement read as, "This build of Android 12 is best suited for developers and other advanced users, as it is still in an early stage of development.
That said, we do not recommend flashing this ROM if you have little to no experience in software development, if you expect to use the device as a daily driver, or if you have no experience flashing custom ROMs. Proceed at your own RISK!" Another statement of Caution was, "You should understand there is a risk of BRICKING your phone, read the instructions carefully and be 100% sure of what you are doing. Please always backup your important data before flashing."
There are some notes to keep in mind before downloading the latest Android 12 Beta update -
The users of the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro were happy, confused, and hesitant as well with the latest Android 12 Developer Program. Some of the comments on the official OnePlus Forum were
"Awesome. Thanks for the DP update!"
"Nice one, install fixed. 👍"
"Awesome, waiting for a feature-rich Open beta."
"Thanks for the update, will try it".
"Is it only for rooted devices?"
"Is the update worth it or is it still buggy?"
"Won't be joining this time around, the other times I noticed that nothing really happens when you report a bug...bugs you report on a model somehow still end up I the next model, etc."
"Those who have plans to flash this build, kindly read the known issues before proceeding."

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) was released with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. It received an Android 10 update in July 2020, ten months after the official Android 10 release. Now, it has received the stable Android 11 update this month with the Android 11 officially releasing in September 2020. Therefore, it took Samsung about nine months this time to release the latest update & still it has yet rollout in other regions as well.
As mentioned earlier, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) was released with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. It received its first major update with Android 10 in July 2020. It has now received its second major update with Android 11 based One UI Core 3.1.
Since it has received two major OS updates, the chances of a third major update are unlikely. It will continue to receive Security updates but it may also be concluded that it is not in the Android 12 update list and Android 11 should probably be the last major OS update on this device.

The Motorola One Action Android 11 Update, this phone was released in August 2019, has started receiving a stable Android 11 update in Brazil as per a Senior Motorola Agent on the official fan forum of Motorola. Originally released with Android 9, the first upgrade came with Android 10, and now it has started receiving the stable Android 11 update.
One "Motorola fan" came up with the query of a stable Android 11 update for Motorola One Action on the official forum and was responded to by a Senior Motorola Agent. The breakdown of the conversation was that Motorola Action One has started receiving stable Android 11 update in Brazil and there is no official date as to when it will roll out in India.
Motorola has listed One Action device on their official website to receive a stable Android 11 update. "This (Motorola One Action) device is expected to receive Android 11, pending partner approval, if that's required" is the statement on their official support page.
The Motorola Action One was released with a 6.3-inch Color LTPS IPS screen with a Punch Hole notch. It has a 2.3 GHz Octa-Core processor with Samsung Exynos 9609 chipset, a 16 MP + 12 MP + 5 MP triple rear camera and a 12 MP front camera with a 3500 mAh battery size. The RAM and storage are 4 GB and 128 GB respectively with a hybrid memory card slot up to 512 GB capacity.
The Motorola Action One was released with Android 9. The first major update came with Android 10 in January 2020 in India and April 2020 in the USA. Now, the second major update of Android 11 has been made available in Brazil this month as reported by the Senior Motorola Agent on the official forum. So, it took Motorola around 8 months to release the update since Google's official launch.
As mentioned earlier, Motorola One Action was launched with Android 9, so Android 11 will probably be the last major update as the Android One program promises at least 2 years of a major update and 3 years of a security update. So, one more security update is guaranteed while another major update is uncertain.
The update is not available in some countries right now, since it's not officially announced by the company. Once it’s on-air, you can head over to Settings >> About Phone >> Software Update section to check if a new notification regarding this update has arrived.
